Not a pet
We used to have crocuses. We used to have tulips. Now we just have chipmunks.
To be fair, these cheeky pests don’t steal daffodil or allium bulbs, so we still have those. But I’d rather have tulips than chipmunks.

We don’t have chipmunks here – they’re cute! I don’t know why my tulips didn’t show up. Our first fall with this garden I planted more than 200 tulips – the following spring none, nada, not even one tiny tip came out of the soil. My crocuses disappeared after the second winter. We have lots of voles, but I haven’t seen any traces of them in the area where the tulips were planted. I’d rather have tulips too.
We have lots of Chipmunks here, not much of a problem they feed under the bird feeders and at a squirrel feeder that is fueled with Sunflower Seeds. Lots of other natural food for them.
Biggest problem is that they tease our dog Charley Brown by sitting on the fireplace wood outside our living room window. One would think that a herd of elephants is going by when he spots them. He gets on the back of the couch with his nose to the window and barks like its the end of the world.
Have a good Evening,
John
Welcome, Liza and John: I understand where your dog is coming from. Mine is like that about squirrels, but now that he is older (8 years), he doesn’t go haywire over the chipmunks. They’re too quick for him anyway. Though I complain about the chipmunks, I tolerate them. And I’ve learned to give in to nature. Afterall, the animals are just making a living, like the rest of us.
“not a pet” very funny Yvonne! I have a lot of squirrels, raccoons, even an armidillo was spotted in the driveway, but no chipmunk yet. I hear the armidillos would probably do the same as a very large chickmunk!! I believe I have hundreds of daffodils but have yet to see them in bloom. Not sure about crocus or tulips…maybe there is a reason why!!
