RBG plant saleIf you’re looking for unique plants and you live in the greater Toronto area, don’t miss the 34th-Annual Spring Plant Sale run by the RBG Auxiliary volunteers.

The sale has plenty to offer: annuals and perennials, newer cultivars of perennials, shrubs and grasses are purchased from professional growers or divisions from Royal Botanical Gardens stock. More recently, native plants and also exotic tropicals have also been available. The majority of the native plants that sold are grown from seeds collected by the volunteers.

Here are the details:

Time and place: Thursday, May 6 and Saturday, May 8, 2010; 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Royal Botanical Gardens’ Arboretum, Old Guelph Road, Dundas.

Master gardeners and plant experts will be there to answer your questions. (I’m one of the experts there on Saturday morning, so please stop and say hello.) For more information, call 905-577-7771, or go to RBG Plant Sale.

Addendum Friday night, May 7: Nasty weekend weather forecast, so I don’t think I’ll be there after all. But if you’re prepared to brave the bad weather, you’ll have an amazing selection of plants to choose from — without the crowds.
