My photo tribute to Toby-dog

When my beloved dog Toby died last September, I was comforted by the many photographs I had taken on our decade of dog walks at Knollwood Golf Course, across from where we lived. We had the run of the place in the winter when the golfers were not there, and I often took my neighbor’s dog Buddy as well.

Also in September, one of my favorite musicians, Mark Knopfler, released a CD called Privateering, and I found his songs comforting as well. One of the songs went so well with my pictures that it inspired my photographic AV show, “Miss You Blues”. You may need to have a tissue handy.

I cried watching this video (which is no loner available, for some reason). Last September we lost our beloved cat just days before Toby died, although he was 18 his death came quickly and unexpectedly (and that was one week to the day after we lost my mother-in-law), lets just say it was a tough summer, and I regret never seeing your country property in person.

We can only be thankful that they got to live out a full season in the gardens (I’m sure) they loved. Tiger is buried in front of a large swath of catmint that he forever chewed and rolled in, that will always make me smile. Now I’m sure I will miss seeing crushed catmint stems.

We give our pets food and shelter (and love), they in return give unquestioned, unwavering, never ending love. Oh and dead mice (just mine?)
Sometimes I think I need them more then they need me.

Steve, thanks for your comments. Losing a beloved cat or dog is really losing a member of the family. By the way, the video still runs. I think you need to refresh the page.
